Need help with makeup?

before now, i havent worn that much makeup. maybe a little bit of foundation, some powder, blush, and mascara. however, i feel like i need a little change. i was never really taught how to even apply makeup or what i need, since my mom doesn't approve of it really, and i've never asked my sisters what to do.

so, could anyone possibly give me a list of what i might need or a how to or anything along these lines?

oh, almost forgot. i'm pretty pale, and i have long, brown hair. my eyes are bluish-green.Need help with makeup?
i would make an appointment at one of yuor local dept stores for a makeover consultation..they are usually free, and will give you great ideas on what colorswill look good on you and how to apply the makeup. my favorites are clinique and mac.Need help with makeup?
go to macy's or dilliards and go to the clinique counter and ask them to do your makeup for free so you can get an idea. you might like it or you might try somehting different. buy the stuff from them or get a list of colors and go to walmart and try to find the same colors
Ive been a makeup artist for 17 years and heres what I would suggest, Go to a Dayspa or Salon ask if they have an makeup artist and just go for consultation. Those are usually free. Dont go to a department store they are not licensed and are only trained in there line. Someone who is licensed has had school and knows about face shapes, color tones, mixing shading, eye shapes, anatomy, skin disorders etc and feel free to ask about there background. GOOD LUCK
First, if you haven't worn a lot of makeup in the past, it's most important to remember to apply it with a very light hand, otherwise you could end up looking like a clown.

I have the same coloring as you, so here's what i use.

Foundation- i use a mineral powder foundation (bare escentuals), but it's kind of pricy. try to find a liquid make-up that matches your skin tone, and use a translucent powder (very little) to set the foundation.

Eyes- use warm browns, they bring out the blue best. Warm coppery brown pencil liner, right in the lashline. If you want to use eyeshadow, use a champagne shimmery color on your eyelid, and a warm brown just in the crease of your eyelid. Black/Brown mascara.

Blush- light pinky tones.

Lips- Cool berry shades, or if you went heavier on the eyes, balance it out with a natural lip, just clear gloss.

I hope this helps! if you need more, i'm at aligreen224@yahoo.com.
Brown shadow is best, but for someone who doesnt wear much makeup, i'd get a good foundation, or a cover stick, if you have black circles under your eyes, get yellow color to eliminate that. make sure your concealer matches your skin tone, so ask the cosmetics manager. eyeshadow is great, get a brown shade, hwo about Loreal or MAC brands, those are my fav. Cinique is also really good! if you want natural eye lashes i suggest covergirl (the purple tube one), or if you want dramatic lashes, try voluminous by Loreal. if you want foundation, i say try pure by maybeline... it works really well, and it doesnt look at cakey and dry like alot of makeup. for eyeliner, i like le kohl loreal stuff, try it in a dark brown color. you can always use any of those makeup ideas with mroe expensive brands like clinique or elizabeth arden. but as always, make sure you moisturize really wlel before you put on makeup so it doenst look all fake... to set your foundation just use a bit of powder. i REALLYl ike MAC lipglosses, try a sheer pink color where you are pale. if your looking for cheap, go with Rimmel's glosses, they are nice too./

To whom this may concern:

I used to sell Mary Kay Products, and so I know some-

what about how to apply make-up to different people's skin

along with myself. First, I would say to you to stay with the

light to medium-light foundation. You don't want to go too

dark, it can interfear with your appearance. I don't know you

but from hearing of what you look like, you're a pretty girl/

and or young lady. Autually you can play around with different

colors that you may have onhand. I would probably start off

with soft eye-colors, not too soft of a blush shade but not

real dark either. A dark-brown mascara for your lashes. The

eye-liner that would be pretty in my opinion, would be a dark-

brown. The mascara is going to bring out your eyes. When

applying the eye-liner, *Do not apply it to the inside of your

eyes. That can cause your eye/or eyes to become infected.

So apply whatever eye-liner to the outside of your eyes.

Maybe use a raison-color lip-liner to your lips along with a

light chocolate lipstick or a lip-gloss. The lip-liner will make

your lips look full and really pretty. And for the final thing to

apply to your face is the power, and since your face is a

light shade; the light to medium-light powder would be best

to use since you are already using the same type shade for

foundation. Well, I hope that I have been some sort of help

for you with wanting to know about applying make-up to

your face. Please do remember not to apply the eye-liner

inside the eyes, like I've said already: '; It can cause harmfull

problems to your eyes.'; That was taught to me along with

some of the other girls that took classes through being a

Mary Kay sales clerk/ sales person. Thank You and I hope

that I have been of some help to you. You have a Great day

and God Bless you.

I had the same problem. It's all about trial and error.

I would definitely recommend some of the following basics-

bronzer

mousse blush

waterproof mascara

eyebrow comb

a quad of eyeshadow

a lipstick very close to your own shade

I'd love to help you more specifically- you're welcome to email me at somuchlaughter05@yahoo.com
Get a good set of brushes (Marykay has a nice set that is very affordable) keep your makeup very natural (good blending) and know that shadow colors like plums, violets and red based colors make green eyes really ';pop';
Try this site, there is alot of great information and tips, techniques and step by step direction to help you get started....:

Hi. You will get some answers here, but I think the smart move is to go to the mall to a top of the line department store and go to the make up counter and get a make over. They will do it right there for free and show you what you need. But just tell them exactly what you want and don't go overboard. Also remember, top notch cosmetics are expensive. You can get a good sense of the color and application, and then buy most of that same stuff at a drugstore to save money.
